See What a Meeting Looks Like
Every Wednesday from 12:00 to 12:55 PM on Microsoft Teams. No prep, no pressure. Just show up and watch how it works.
Everyone in that meeting joined for the same reason you are reading this page. Nobody arrives polished. That is the whole point of the room.
What to expect
Every meeting has a familiar shape. No two feel the same.
Every Blue Streak meeting has a familiar structure, but each one feels a little different. Speakers, prompts, evaluations, and roles change from week to week. Members take turns leading different parts of the meeting, bringing their own style, perspective, humor, and experience.
Opening and Welcome
A club officer opens the meeting and welcomes everyone, then turns it over to the Toastmaster of the Day, who guides the agenda.
Prepared Speeches
Members give prepared speeches connected to their communication and leadership goals. These may focus on workplace communication, storytelling, persuasion, leadership, technical explanations, personal growth, or other speaking skills.
Table Topics
Members practice thinking on their feet by responding to short impromptu prompts. Guests may be invited to participate, but it is always optional.
Evaluations
Speakers receive constructive feedback focused on growth: what worked, what landed well, and what could become even stronger.
Meeting Roles
Members take turns serving as Timer, Grammarian, Vote Counter, and General Evaluator. These roles build listening, observation, concise reporting, feedback, and leadership skills.
Awards and Closing
We wrap up with recognition, announcements, and next steps.
Guest participation
You do not need to prepare anything
There is no pressure to speak, volunteer, turn on your camera, or know anything about Toastmasters before attending. You are welcome to observe, listen, ask questions, and get a feel for the club. If you want to participate, we will gladly include you. If you would rather just watch, that is completely fine too.
Members are challenged. Guests are welcomed. Supportive does not mean soft: when you are ready, the room will stretch you, and the feedback will land kindly. Until then, watching is participation enough.

Evening sessions
Meeting you where you are
In addition to our weekly lunchtime meetings, Blue Streak hosts a monthly evening session with a different format: longer speeches, educational discussions, presentations, and deeper skill-building opportunities. Whether your schedule makes lunchtime meetings difficult or you just want more practice, evening sessions give you another way in. We also hold occasional hybrid meetings, virtual as always, with an in-person room for members who want to practice what a screen cannot teach: commanding a physical space, reading a live audience, and real in-person presence.

What happens next
Before the meeting, and after
You will receive a follow-up email with the full meeting agenda, generally a day or two before the meeting. That email includes the complete lineup of speakers, roles, and everything you need to follow along.
After the meeting, you will also receive Ascension Notes, the club’s after-meeting development digest, so your first visit pays off even if you never say a word. And if you enjoyed the experience and want to learn more about membership, just let any of our officers know. We would be happy to answer questions.

Ready to see for yourself?
Drop your name and email and we will send you the Teams link and everything you need for your first meeting. You will also get the full meeting agenda a day or two before, with the complete lineup of speakers and roles. Want a personal connection? Check the Guide box and we will pair you with an experienced member.
Most of us were nervous before our first meeting too. It passes in about ten minutes.
Blue Streak is open to all employees, contract workers, and retirees of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and affiliated companies. Not sure if you are eligible? Reach out and we will let you know.
Retirees
No manager approval needed. Pay dues directly ($72 per six months in TI dues plus a one-time $25 new-member fee, no club dues). Access meetings from home via Microsoft Teams. Visit as many times as you like before joining.
